The Bloomsbury Institute and Bloomsbury Journals invite you to an evening of discussion on the fascinating subject of Luxury with a celebration of the launch of the new journal, Luxury: History, Culture, Consumption. In a period of financial uncertainty and global recession how can luxury remain such an obsession in the modern world and what does this tell us about contemporary society? Join our experts as they explore the history of luxury, its relationship with culture, and its relevance and significance to modern life.

In discussion with the editor of Luxury, Jonathan Faiers, will be Giorgio Riello, Professor of Global History and Culture, University of Warwick; Rebecca Robins, European Director of Interbrand and author of Meta-Luxury; and Bruce Montgomery, Professor in Design Craftsmanship, Northumbria University.
