The newly launched Oxford Society for Sufi Studies launches on Wednesday of 2nd Week (6th May), with a talk from renowned author Robert Irwin on his book Memoirs of a Dervish, which chronicles his experiences in an Algerian Sufi community in the ’60s. Robert Irwin is the author of a number of novels on Arabic-related themes, several books on Arabic-Islamic art, history and literature, and a well-known rebuttal of Edward Said’s Orientalism.
Join us at 7.30pm next Wednesday, at Wadham College, in the Gillese-Badun Room, McCall McBain Graduate Centre, for what promises to be a fascinating talk, the first of four events organised by the society for this term.
