Tom Wright, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tuesday 20 October 6.30 – 8.00pm, Admission Free

Tom Wright says that there is a fundamental problem deep in the heart of contemporary Christianity: that we have simply forgotten what the gospels are about.

Drawing together the themes of the kingdom and the cross, the resurrection and ascension, he will present a radical rereading of the gospels with radical implications for our lives – spiritually, politically and for the church as a whole.

He challenges us to read what the Gospel writers are actually saying and find Jesus larger and more compelling than we ever imagined. And in doing so, he says, we will hear his urgent call to draw closer together in mission and life, faith, hope and even in love, and join him in his project of bringing God’s wise, healing rule to bear on his world.

Tom Wright is Research Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews, and was until recently the Bishop of Durham. One of the foremost Biblical scholars of our time, he is the author of over fifty books, including Simply Jesus, How God Became King and the For Everyone guides to the New Testament, all published by SPCK.
