Biography
Dr Nick Medford qualified as a medical doctor in the early 90s and after working in general medicine and neurology in various London hospitals, he entered psychiatry in 1998, working at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, where he undertook a PhD, and now is Senior Lecturer in psychiatry at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. He is interested in unusual experiences in healthy and pathological mental states, and how these relate to brain functions and processes. His research uses functional MRI and other methods to study the biological underpinnings of anomalous experience. In particular he is interested in depersonalization disorder on which he has published widely.
