Kim Ghattas and Lyse Doucet, two of the most respected journalists covering the Middle East today, will come to the Intelligence Squared stage for a conversation about the future of Lebanon, America and the forces that have shaped the modern Middle East. Drawing on decades of reporting, Ghattas and Doucet will bring clarity to this complex history and explore how decisions made in Beirut and Washington continue to shape the region today. The evening will also draw on Ghattas's new book, The Best Kind of American, a gripping investigation into the unsolved 1984 murder of Malcolm Kerr, president of the American University of Beirut. The book follows the Kerr family's search for answers while uncovering the wider forces behind Lebanon's conflict and America's involvement in the region. The audience will have the opportunity to put questions to Kim and Lyse in a Q&A session.
