About this talk
What do you hold onto when you're told you only have a few years left to live? Join Sir Chris Hoy as he discusses his book All That Matters, part memoir, part guide to living with greater attention. Sir Chris Hoy is one of Britain's greatest Olympians. A six-time Olympic gold medallist and 11-time world champion, his career was built on mastering the split-second moments that define victory. In 2024, he faced a different kind of test: a terminal Stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis. Chris will speak candidly about his diagnosis. He'll describe founding Tour de 4, the charity cycling event that brought together over 5,000 riders last year and raised more than £3 million for cancer charities. He'll talk about the role of his family—including his wife Sarra, who received her own serious diagnosis at the same time—and the way crisis can strip life back to what genuinely matters. At the heart of the evening is a simple but hard-won idea: that it is the ordinary moments most of us let pass unnoticed, that turn out to carry the most weight.
