Please note: Booking is Essential 17th century London was a busy, overcrowded city, one of the largest in Europe with a population around 350,000; it was a City of contrasts, poverty and wealth side by side. In the 1640s the City had been torn apart by Civil War. In 1665 what became known as the Great Plague of London halved its population. And, of course, there was always the threat of Fire… This talk by City of London Guide & Lecturer Jill Finch tells the tale of two cities of London.
