Reconnect Project

Is digital technology hijacking young people’s attention? Do they feel they have lost control? How do we promote digital literacy and resilience in our children? Join us for an evening of debate and discussion.

The Reconnect Project are hosting a special event to encourage conversations about how today’s technology can be more helpful for young people. Amid concerns about the impact of social media and screentime on young people’s physical and mental wellbeing, an expert panel will look at issues such as hyper connectivity, addiction, distraction, solutions and industry responsibility.

With support from Wellcome Trust, Reconnect ran a digital awareness project with 2000+ students. The University of Bristol studied the project and we will look at their findings: what impact did Reconnect have on the students who took part? What do young people think about their digital lives? Students described the experience as “eye-opening” and “perspective changing” but what lessons can we take from Reconnect and how is this reflected in emerging digital culture and policy?

The event will feature a lively panel discussion as well as creative workshops and a chance to share ideas with experts in the field. Lawrence Ampofo, Grace Campbell, John Carr, Dr Elizabeth Kilbey, Jada Scott, with a special spoken word performance by Tane Stevens.
Parents, educators, students and all curious minds are welcome.
