Geneticist Carola Vinuesa will present three examples of genetic discoveries and their impact on our understanding of human health. From unveiling new insights into the regulation of antibodies in our immune response, to the origins of the autoimmune disease Lupus, and the identification of a new gene variant which led to the exoneration of a wrongly convicted mother. Carola is the 2026 JBS Haldane Lecturer, which is awarded annually by the Genetics Society to an individual for outstanding ability to communicate topical subjects in genetics research to an interested lay audience. This is an in-person, theatre-only event where the speakers and audience are together in the Theatre. Doors to the theatre will open approximately 15 minutes before the start time. The building will open from 6.00pm.
