About this talk
With UCL's bicentenary upon us, this year we will be celebrating with a very special joint Joel & Clifton Lecture. You are warmly invited to join us for our annual Joel Lecture, which this year will include our Clifton Lecture, delivered by our current John Clifton Postdoctoral Fellow. Hosted by the Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, this year's talks are highlights of the Faculty's UCL 200 celebrations. Professor David Hawkes will deliver the Joel Lecture on his career and research: "From Rock and Roll to Sailing in the Rain: Via Fifty Years of Medical Imaging and Surgical Sciences." His 50-year career in medical imaging has spanned hospital-based clinical sciences and university-based research, focusing on image registration, data fusion, visualization, and image-guided interventions. Dr Elizabeth Powell, the current John Clifton Postdoctoral Fellow, will also speak about how the Fellowship has impacted her work on water exchange MRI methods for quantifying blood-brain barrier permeability. A drinks reception in the Winter Garden will follow, to which everyone is welcome. The Joel Lecture Series is free to attend and open to all.
