About this talk
Join Lubaina Himid RA, CBE as she reflects on representing Britain this year's Venice Biennale. A leading figure of the Black British Art Movement, Lubaina Himid is celebrated for vivid, incisive work that challenges Eurocentric narratives while foregrounding Black lives, histories and ways of knowing. In Predicting History: Testing Translation, Himid transforms the British Pavilion into an immersive environment of large-scale paintings, found objects and sound. The installation invites audiences to reflect on migration, identity, memory and the mutable meaning of home. In conversation with art critic Louisa Buck, Himid will discuss the making of the exhibition and art's role in shaping history and cultural memory. Live closed captioning (CC) is available for the livestream of this event.
