About this talk
This lecture scrutinises the friction between aggressive urban planning and public health. It challenges the "Suitable for Use" legislative framework, revealing how simple remediation is often a mechanism for bypassing genuine restoration. Here, the rhetoric of NIMBYism is wielded to suppress debate on the long-term health impacts of infrastructure megaprojects and the repurposing of contaminated land. The absence of longitudinal evidence for the safety of these interventions is laid bare, questioning whether economic utility has now superseded the physical health of citizens on the national ledger.
