This year, The Haunted Landscape, our annual folklore all-dayer, delves into the realms of magic fairies and old gods. Speakers include: Ronald Hutton on 'The Return of the Horned God' examining the Horned God as the main form of Pagan male deity in the modern West; Sara Hannant on 'Panic: Visions of the Horned Gods' exploring the Greek god Pan in the English Country Garden; Francis Young on 'A History of European Fairy Traditions' covering fairies across Europe; Marion Gibson on 'Witchland: A Tale of Witch Hunting and War in Seventeenth-Century Britain' discussing the 1640s witch hunts; Jeremy Harte on 'Mad, Bad or Sad? Ghost Monks and their Hidden Treasures' exploring post-Dissolution ghosts and ruins; and Fiona Robertson on 'Stone Lands: A Journey of Darkness and Light Through Britain's Ancient Places' examining prehistoric sites. Jo Hickey-Hall presents 'Modern Fairy Sightings: Personal Encounters in Extraordinary Times' exploring contemporary fairy encounter reports. Doors open 9:30am. In person and virtual event.
