About this talk

In 2018, for the first time in history, a left wing party (MORENA) won Mexico’ s presidential elections. Its vowed to put an end to Neoliberalism, and put the poor first. In 2024, MORENA again won the elections, with virtually the same agenda. After more than eight years in power, What is the scorecard of this Left Turn on Mexico’s growth and development path? Has the promised demise of neoliberalism actually happened? Given Latin America’s radical shift towards right-wing governments -most likely including Brazil- it is of critical importance to assess the achievements and setbacks (lights and shadows) and road ahead of Mexico’s Left Turn.
