In this lecture, we will consider a similar domestication of humans by AI, pondering benefits as well as being clear about the costs. The lecture explores the concept of domestication through animal metaphors—examining how AI might domesticate humans through comfort, care, and convenience rather than force. It discusses different AI futures mapped to animal lives (dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, fish) and their implications for human agency and freedom. The lecture also explores alternative forms of intelligence beyond human reasoning and the concept of 'human re-wilding' as a way to resist turning care into control.
