About this talk

Join us for the launch of Postpartum Depression: A Cognitive-Behavioural Approach to Recovery, a new CBT manual for postnatal depression, along with the accompanying parent workbook, both published as part of the Oxford University Press Treatments that work series. Many parents suffer from depression after having a baby. This can be debilitating and distressing for parents and their families. Depression in the postpartum period often goes unrecognized, leaving parents struggling with its impact. Early identification and treatment are essential in order to promote the best outcome possible for parents and their babies. The book provides a step-by-step guide of an evidence-based treatment for postpartum depression and aims to be a resource for therapists treating parents using this approach. There is an accompanying workbook for those parents undertaking this treatment, including detailed worksheets and resources. The event features a panel discussion with the authors Anne Stewart, Heather O’Mahen and Alan Stein, followed by a Q&A. The panel is chaired by Fiona Alderdice, Professor in Perinatal Health and Wellbeing, Queen’s University Belfast Following the panel and general discussion, drinks and nibbles will be provided with opportunity to view the books and to have further informal discussion with the authors.
