The Oxford University United Nations Association is pleased to host Mr. Ribal Al Assad, Founder and Director of the Organisation for Democracy and Freedom in Syria (ODFS).

The event will begin at 7:45 in Lecture Room B, The Queen’s College. This will be followed by an informal Q&A session. Both are open to both OUUNA members and non-members.

Ribal al-Assad is cousin to Syria’s current President Bashar, and son of Rifaat, brother of former Syrian president Hafez. He has lived in the West since his father was exiled from Syria. Ribal is an international campaigner for democracy, freedom and human rights in Syria and the Middle East.

Ribal is also Chairman of the Iman Foundation, which promotes dialogue to strengthen international understanding and co-existence through the exchange of ideas, people, culture and religion. He is involved in promoting interfaith dialogue and relations between Muslims, Jews and Christians around the globe.

Ribal holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the InterAmerican University in New York and an MA in International Relations from the University of Leicester. He is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
