The Indus, a region of North west India, had once been the centre of civilisation, worthy of comparison to ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. It had remained undiscovered for 4000 years until it was found in the 1920’s by Britisha nd Indian archaeologists. After 50 years of excavation, Andrew Robinson explains why it is regarded as the beginning of Indian civilisation and possibly the origin of the Hindu religion.
