Drawing on her experience, first as the Committee’s Chairperson and now as Rapporteur, Dr. Sandberg will speak to developments in some areas of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, focusing on challenges but also the progress that has been made. In addition, she will speak to certain dilemmas in monitoring compliance with the Convention.

Kirsten Sandberg is Professor of Law at the University of Oslo Faculty of Law, and currently serves as Rapporteur on the Committee on the Rights of the Child (elected to the Committee in 2011, serving as its chairperson until 2013.) She previously served as Acting Supreme Court Justice in the Supreme Court of Norway 2010–2011; from 2012 she was also Pro-Dean for Education of the Faculty of Law. She has been a Visiting Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and the University of Chicago.
