The Ashmolean is pleased to welcome Dr Faramerz Dabhoiwala, University of Oxford, to speak on the subject of his critically acclaimed publication The Origins of Sex, in which argues that the first western sexual revolution took place during the 18th century. Dr Dabhoiwala shows that the creation of this modern culture of sex was a central part of the Enlightenment, intertwined with the era’s major social, political and intellectual trends.
