Aidan Meller Galleries is offering the chance to get hands-on with a collection of rare, unframed drawings at a special Christmas event.
Regulars at the gallery may have seen framed examples of the fine stained glass window cartoons discovered by the gallery Director. But this event is a chance to handle and study previously unseen drawings – some of the most delicate, unframed works from the collection. The event will offer an unrivalled way of experiencing the magic and skill embodied in these fine examples of the Pre-Raphaelite style.
Prior to Aidan Meller’s acquisition of the collection, these drawings had lain neglected in a dusty box for the best part of a century. Since that time, the collection has attracted the attention of leading experts in the field, and the gallery’s research has identified studies for windows at prestigious locations such as Harris Manchester College and St. Paul’s Cathedral, as well uncovering the story of a window that was destroyed by a Nazi bomb raid.
Guests will be treated to an engaging talk by Pre-Raphaelite expert Claire Yearwood as well as live music and seasonal refreshments. Because of the rarity and delicate condition of the artworks, attendance at this event will be strictly limited.
