Science fiction in many ways, does what it says on the tin – portrays stories about the way that science will shape our world and the challenges and rewards it will bring. Join a panel of SF authors to explore the question: how vital is an understanding of science to the process of writing science fiction?
Jonathan Oliver is the Editor-in-Chief of Solaris, Abaddon Books and Ravenstone, at Rebellion Publishing. His is the author of two novels and has appeared in a handful of anthologies.
Tade Thompson’s background is in medicine and anthropology. His first novel Making Wolf won The Kitshies’ Golden Tentacle. Recent works are the short story The Apologists, Decommissioned and the novel Rosewater.
Adrian Tchaikovsky is a British fantasy and science fiction author, best known for his
Shadows of the Apt series and the novel Children of Time. He studied psychology and
zoology at the University of Reading.
Tricia Sullivan, who also writes fantasy under the pseudonym Valery Leith, has degrees
in physics, music and education. She won the Arthur C. Clarke Award for her novel
Dreaming in Smoke in 1999.
