Venus and Adonis by W. Shakespeare

A rare occasion to hear some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful writing read aloud.

In 1593, an outbreak of the plague in London caused the city authorities to close all the public playhouses. Shakespeare set about what he would publish as “the first heir [sic] of my invention” – the poem Venus and Adonis with a plot based on passages from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. An introduction will set the poem in context and there will an opportunity to join the performers in conversation afterwards.

Ad Parnassum aspires to the art of the Muses. The company brings young professionals and experienced artists together in creating imaginative and artistic productions while always respecting the worth of original works from which they create from.
