Ashmolean Afternoon Tea Lecture

William Rothenstein (1872–1945) was an English painter, draughtsman and art critic who played a leading role in early 20th-century British art. He studied at the Slade School and went onto work as an official war artist (in both World Wars) and to be Principal of the Royal College of Art betwen 1920–1935 where he influenced artists including Edward Burra and Henry Moore. David Addison talks about his career and the part he played in British art of the last century.
