Many of us enjoy a beer but few know the science behind its production. Katherine is an expert in malting, yeast genomics, fermentation and flavour, and will give you some unique insights into the industry, her career and research.

Global brands such as Pilsner Urquell and Grolsch, as well as local brands such as Águila, Miller Lite and Victoria Bitter are just some of the 200 beers she is involved in.

As a member of Athena SWAN (Scientific Women’s Academic Network), Brookes is committed to advancing women’s careers in science, technology,
engineering, maths and medicine employment in academia.
