Ilan Pappé is Professor of History, Director of the European Centre for Palestine Studies. Professor Pappé obtained his BA degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1979 and the D. Phil from the University of Oxford in 1984. He founded and directed the Academic Institute for Peace in Givat Haviva, Israel between 1992 to 2000 and was the Chair of the Emil Tuma Institute for Palestine Studies in Haifa between 2000 and 2006. His many publications include ‘The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine’ and ‘The Modern History Palestine, One Land, Two Peoples’.

Avi Shlaim is a Fellow of St Antony’s College and Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford. He was the Alastair Buchan Reader in International Relations from 1987 to 1996. He was the Director of Graduate Studies in International Relations in 1993-1995 and 1998-2001. In 2006 he was elected Fellow of the British Academy. His books include ‘The Iron Wall: Israel and the Arab World’, ‘War and Peace in the Middle East’ and ‘Collusion across the Jordan: King Abdullah, the Zionist Movement, and the Partition of Palestine’.
