Dr Eric Sidebottom and Professor David Cranston will be giving a talk on ‘Penicillin and the Legacy of Norman Heatley’.

Dr Sidebottom is a Retired Lecturer in Experimental Pathology in The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. He was also a Medical Tutor at Lincoln College. Now, as a budding medical historian, his mission is to convince the uninitiated, preferably on cruise ships, that world history has been determined more by disease than by kings, politicians, or wars.

Professor Cranston is Professor of Surgery at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences at Oxford University. He is clinical director of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) unit at the Churchill Hospital.
