Juno: Mission to Jupiter

In August 2011, the NASA spacecraft Juno was launched on a five year trip to Jupiter. Following a planned arrival in July 2016, Juno will spend the next year orbiting the gas giant, getting closer than any other spacecraft has before. Juno will be able to study Jupiter’s atmosphere and take the first pictures of Jupiter’s poles and, along with the help of ground-based observation, the hope is it will give us some insight into how Jupiter and other planets were made. Join atmospheric physicist Pat Irwin and planetary physicist Emma Bunce to find out more about the mission and how this research will help us to understand more about the universe.
