At the Michaelmas Term meeting of the Oxford Students’ Higher Education Research Group (OxSHERG), we will have the pleasure of hearing a talk from Dr Caroline Pond about the development of the Open University as it happened in the 1970s. Her talk will be followed by a discussion about the present and future of distance learning in higher education.
Dr Caroline Pond studied Zoology at Oxford University, completing a DPhil in 1971. She then taught Comparative Physiology in the Zoology Department for four years, followed by four years in United States. From 1979 to 2010 she worked for the Open University in Milton Keynes, mostly writing and managing courses in biological and paramedical sciences, becoming professor of Comparative Anatomy in 2002. She is now happily retired in Oxford, undertaking a wide variety of voluntary jobs.
Both members and non-members of OxSHERG are welcome. However, you must register your interest in order to attend.
