William Gray and his books – Dr Katherine Zieman

Dr Katherine Zieman, formerly Assistant Professor of English and Medieval Studies at Notre Dame University, is the Oliver Smithies Lecturer at Balliol for Hilary Term 2014.

William Gray was the single most important donor (by far) to Balliol’s 15th century library. More than half the surviving library of medieval Balliol came from Gray.
