Robert Fine is a Professor of Sociology. He is on the executive of the European Sociological Association and helps to run its Network 31 on Racism and Antisemitism. His current research focusses on human rights, modernity and antisemitism and cosmopolitan social theory. He has published extensively on Marxism and the political thought of Hannah Arendt.

Dr Hirsh’s scholarship analyses contemporary antisemitism and its problems of recognition. In 2007, while a research fellow at Yale University, he published a paper with the Yale Initiative for the Interdisciplinary Study of Antisemitism, entitled ‘Anti-Zionism and Antisemitism: Cosmopolitan Reflections.’
