About this Event
Holly Watt is an award-winning investigative journalist who worked on the MPs expenses and the Panama Papers. Her lived experience of working as a journalist before turning her attention to creating the Casey Benedict novels To The Lions and The Dead Line brings clarity and authenticity to her fictional writing.
As a journalist, Holly was required to investigate, research and write compelling pieces of non-fiction but how did she apply those skills to producing her novels? What does she believe that journalists know about writing fiction that other aspiring novelists would love to learn? How easy it is to move from journalism to writing novels?
If you’re a journalist or non-fiction writer attempting to write your first novel we know that Holly’s advice and experience will help move your storytelling forward. In fact, Holly’s debut novel, To The Lions, won the CWA’s Ian Flemming Steel Dagger 2019.
Come and join us as Holly talks to her editor Raven Books‘s Editorial Director, Alison Hennessey, about the story behind how she writes her novels and what she thinks gives journalists an edge when they write fiction.
We hope you’re free to join us.
