Fuels of the Future

Dr Paul Hellier of UCL will be talking about biofuels and the opportunities they present for our future energy needs.

Growing acceptance of the detrimental effects of fossil fuel usage has added increasing urgency to the search for truly sustainable alternative fuels. This presents an opportunity to develop future fuels that are not just like for like replacements for current fossil fuels, but are actually improved fuels that release energy in a more efficient way and emit fewer harmful pollutants.

Paul will give an introduction, and also hopefully a practical demonstration, of how when combustion engineers work together with biologists or chemical engineers designing cleaner future fuels is possible.
