How do we become convinced of something. even if it isn’t true? Join us for the UK/London Premiere + Q&A with the filmmakers of Right Between Your Ears, a documentary about what fuels people’s sense that their views are right and couldn’t possibly be wrong.
The film follows a group of people who became convinced of a date for the end of the world, and then discovered they were mistaken. Through their story, Right Between Your Ears explores how people believe, how we turn beliefs into certainties, and take them for the truth.
A stock trader with a young family, a philosophy student about to graduate and a retail manager who became so convinced she quit her job of 18 years. As they deal with the consequences of their conviction, social psychology and neuroscience offer insights into how we can become convinced we’re right, even when we’re wrong.
The screening is part of the London Lift Off Film Festival and will be followed by a Q&A with film producer/director Sheila Marshall and producer/neuroscientist Kris De Meyer (King’s College London).
“An engaging, kind and sober film about a hugely important topic: what happens when people who are certain of something realise they are wrong.” Jon Ronson – author
“A fun and warmhearted look at a community of doomsayers as they face the day of judgement, it ends up saying a great deal about how we all think.” Louis Theroux – Documentary Filmmaker
