Gender equality continues to be a topic of central importance when considering current economic, political and institutional systems. However, what gender equality means to a City employee in financial services can be quite different to what it means to the cleaner in the same building, and different again from a woman and mother in one of the poorest nations of the world. Even though a vision for gender equality ultimately speaks of a life of dignity and fairness for all, it is sometimes difficult to know in practice where to begin.
This event will explore the structural changes needed to help promote a more equal and fair society for women and men not only in the workplace, but throughout all fields of life from both a national and global perspective. What changes do we need to see; how can they be achieved? How can we promote a more inclusive world that is sustained by fairer economic and political systems? Where is change currently coming from, and who continues to be excluded from this important public conversation? What can one person do?
