Relax after a hard day in a quirky cocktail bar and let two charming physicists and a comedian take you into their curious world for the evening. No physics experience required.

Dr Ben Still will attempt to explain in less than 30 minutes the theory behind and search for the recently discovered Higgs Boson (with the help of a red carpet and fake film stars).

Dr Matthew Malek will take us deeper into rabbit hole, explaining the latest theories for all the missing mass and energy in the universe and why ‘dark matter’ could be made up of WIMPs.

We will show you a fun physics demo and throughout the night will challenge you to our physics pub quiz. We can’t divulge the questions of course, but during our last quiz, special prizes were awarded to one team who got Pi correct to 9 decimal places and to players who managed to stand up in the quick-fire round without knocking the table over.

The excellent comedian, Rik Moore, who describes himself as an ‘intriguing blend of chap, investigator and idiot’ will be our host.

Who is Cocktails and Physics for?
Cocktails and Physics is designed to be a good night out. The talks are for people with no physics background looking for something different to do, as well as those who know a little about the subject who want to indulge their interest. Bring yourself, or come with friends and partners.
