Easter 1916: Revising the rising

The Easter Rising of 1916 remains a significant event in Irish history.

This talk will look at records from the War Office, the Home Office, and the Dublin Castle Papers in order to build a picture of the Rising from the British side and consider what light these documents throw on current perspectives of the events.

Our collection of First World War records is one of the largest in the world. It includes, amongst many other documents, service records, letters, diaries, maps and photographs. During the centenary we are opening up this collection and hosting a variety of events and exhibitions, engaging in key debates and topics from the war.
