A talk covering the diversity of snowdrops and why they fascinate galanthophiles. With some thoughts on how to grow them and companion plants. The event will also include a practical session on identifying snowdrops.

His horticultural interests are very broad, but bulbs are a lifelong interest and he’s been collecting snowdrops for over thirty years. John has written several books, among them ‘Snowdrops, A monograph of cultivated Galanthus’ (with Matt Bishop and Aaron Davis, 2001) and New Trees, Recent introductions to cultivation, with Ross Bayton (2009). He is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Nomenclature and Taxonomy Advisory Group and Woody Plant Committee.
