Newham Word Festival
For eighteenth and nineteenth century Londoners, debt was part of everyday life. But when your creditors lost their patience, you might be thrown into one of London’s most notorious jails: the Marshalsea Debtors’ Prison. In this event, London historian Jerry White investigates some of Marshalsea’s most fascinating prisoners.
This event is taking place as part of the Newham Word Festival. For listings of the full programme, please visit: http://www.discover.org.uk/newhamwordfestival17/
