Northern Adventure: Paul Nash in St Pancras
Lecture by Alan Powers
In 1914, the artist Paul Nash married Margaret ‘Bunty’ Odeh, the tenant of no.176 Queen Alexandra Mansions, Judd Street, a flat they used intermittently until 1936. During these years, Nash rose to fame as a War Artist on the Western Front and then acted as a catalyst in the development of modern art, book illustration and pattern design, while consolidating his reputation as a painter.
Alan Powers, a Judd Street resident for 30 years and a writer on interwar British art and design, will discuss Nash’s interpretation of this urban environment.
