Since its discovery more than 4000 years ago, rubber has contributed widely to human development. Rubber is ubiquitous in products like gloves, tyres, hoses and for soft biomedical devices. James will explore what makes rubber so magical that it can sustain a $1,000,000,000,000 industry and what the future holds for an increasingly smart material.

The lecture will be followed by a networking drinks reception.
