Ada Lovelace Day Live! is a “science caberet”, an entertaining evening of geekery in celebration of women in STEM.

Our amazing speakers this year are:

– Dr. Praminda Caleb-Solly, Associate Professor in Independent Living Systems in the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the University of the West of England, Theme Leader for Assisted Living at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory and Head of Electronics and Computer Systems at Designability.
– Dr Brenna Hassett, an archaeologist who specialises in using clues from the human skeleton to understand how people lived and died in the past.
– Yasmin Ali, a chartered chemical engineer in the energy industry, with experience in coal and gas-fired power stations, as well as the UK oil and gas sector.
– Tricia Sullivan, an Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author of nine science fiction novels, including Maul, Occupy Me, and Sweet Dreams, and who, thanks to the Open University, is also now a PhD student working in data science at the Astrophysics Research Institute in Liverpool.
– Dr Eugénie Hunsicker, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Loughborough University.
– Miranda Lowe, museum scientist and Principal Curator at the Natural History Museum, London, responsible for many historically important oceanographic specimens.
– Professor Beate Kampmann, Professor of Paediatric Infection, Immunity and International Child Health.
…all compered by presented, comedian and geek songstress, Helen Arney.

The show starts at 7.30 pm, and will finish about 9.30 pm.

The doors open 6.30 pm – this year there won’t be a bar at the venue beforehand (boo!) but there will be a bookstall (yay!), and three of the speakers will be signing their recent books for an hour before the show – an excellent opportunity to nab a few great christmas presents ahead of time!

The show is suitable for adults, and for young people over the age of 12.
