Among the speakers will be:

  •  Professor Monica Grady CBE, Professor of Planetary and Space Sciences and Head, Department of Physical Sciences President of the Meteoritical Society Origins the life, the fundamental chemistry that made it possible.
  •  Dr Ania Servant, Manchester University, Graphene, the structure, importance and possibilities created by this new material.
  •  Professor Frank Close OBE, Professor of Theoretical Physics, University of Oxford Fundamentals of Matter, the Higgs Boson Particle and the work of CERN.
  •  Dr Jamie Gallagher, Glasgow University, Periodic Table – and looking at the discovery, discoverers and current uses of the elements in science and in our day to day lives – from poisoning and murder to space exploration.

The day will include a science cafe, where students and researchers have the opportunity to present their work.
