Hear from Dr Tommy Wide, Managing Director of Turquoise Mountain, about its mission to revive Afghanistan’s traditional crafts and architecture and rehabilitation of the old city of Kabul through projects with local communities, and the challenges and rewards of working in this volatile, war-torn region.

While studying Classics and Arabic at Oxford Tommy became fascinated with Afghanistan, a fascination which in 2007 would see him move to Afghanistan at the height of the war. Join Tommy as he recounts his experiences and shares his insights of an Afghanistan very few people get to see.

This talk is free, but booking is required. There will be a chance to view display ‘War Story: Afghanistan 2014’ after the event. Doors open from 6.30pm.
