An evening packed with tales of adventure and discovery to entertain and inspire, hosted by anthropologist and broadcaster Mary-Ann Ochota FRGS. Discussion encouraged in the bar. Organised by the Younger Members’ Committee.

Mary-Ann Ochota FRGS is an anthropologist and broadcaster. She’s presented TV and radio documentaries and factual programmes for the BBC (Stonehenge Empire; From our own Correspondent), ITV (Britain’s Secret Treasures), Channel 4 (Unreported World; Time Team) and for Discovery Networks (Feral Children; Wild in the Danger Zone; Hunting Extinction). Her work has taken her across the world, including into the Chernobyl exclusion zone, the Algerian Sahara, across Australia’s Simpson Desert with seventeen camels, and to the slums of Dhaka and Delhi. She writes regularly for newspapers and magazines, including Geographical, The Great Outdoors and the Telegraph. Mary-Ann has recently published her new book Hidden histories: a spotter’s guide to the British landscape, she is also the Society’s spring Regional Theatres Programme speaker.
