Hipster International? Music in a global age

From Afrobeat to Gangnam Style K-Pop, contemporary music fans seem to have a rapacious appetite for global music culture. Has the digital age realised a dream of music without borders, or been a largely empty exercise in cultural mash-up? Have our listening habits narrowed or expanded?
