Professor Martin Knight, Professor of Mechanobiology, will be holding his Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday 9th March 2016 at 6.30pm. The lecture will be followed by a free drink reception. The lecture will be held in Skeel Lecture Theatre, Mile End Campus.

Lecture Synopsis:
Our health depends on the way the living cells and tissues in our bodies respond to mechanical forces. Understanding this topic, known as ‘mechanobiology’, may lead to new treatments for diseases such as arthritis, osteoporosis and cancer. This lecture will take you on a personal journey from engineering to biology. In particular, Professor Knight will describe his work on a hitherto ignored cellular structure, the primary cilium, and its role in mechanobiology and disease.

Meet the Professor:
Professor Knight is a professor of mechanobiology in the Institute of Bioengineering and the School of Engineering and Materials Science where he is the Director of Research and actively involved in the Medical Engineering degree programme.

Attendance is free of charge but you must book a ticket to attend.
