Join us Monday February 12th for a panel discussion about the early British games industry and how young people shaped the course of the modern industry. Afterwards you get to have a play at some original arcade machines and early home consoles in our pop-up arcade, all for only £7.50.

With the rise of home computer technology in the 70s, young people now had the opportunity to create their own games from their living rooms and bedrooms. We will be talking to some of these early pioneers about this incredible moment in history.

Alex Wiltshire, the former editor of ‘videogame Bible’ Edge and Bristoft: An Oral History will be leading the panel. Joining him are Martin Hollis, a video game designer known for the Nintendo 64 first-person shooters GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, and Gary Penn, a former games reviewer writing for the legendary magazine Zzap!64.

This panel is part of a series of event for our pop-up arcade the History of Video Games. As part of your ticket you will have an hour in our pop-up arcade, with games like Outrun, Track and Field, After Burner, Joust, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Pac Man. As well as selection of consoles including Atari, NES, Sega Master System SNES, Megadrive, Game Cube, N64 and Playstation.

The panel discussion in based on the book Britsoft: An Oral History, by Read-Only Memory, a publisher that documents great moments in video game history.
