The issue of the UK’s exit from the European Union is rightly dominating discussions of politics and policy in Westminster. However, fundamental questions also remain for the devolved administrations and public policy.
This event will focus on Wales, and showcase research conducted by leading experts for the Wales Centre for Public Policy, a research centre that aims to ensure that governments and public services have access to the best available evidence to tackle the major policy issues of the day.
Speakers will include:
Professor Jonathan Portes, Professor of Economics and Public Policy at King’s College London, and Dr Heather Rolfe, Associate Research Director for Employment and Social Policy at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, who will discuss immigration after Brexit, and the implications for Wales.
Professor Janet Dwyer, Professor of Rural Policy and Director of the Countryside and Community Research Institute, who will present research on the impacts of Brexit on Welsh farming which she has undertaken for the Wales Centre for Public Policy.
Griffin Carpenter, Senior Researcher, New Economics Foundation who will discuss research that he has undertaken for the Centre on fisheries policy post-Brexit.
Dr Lydia Hayes, Lecturer in Law at Cardiff University, will discuss her research for the Centre on tackling worker exploitation in low-paid work.
Professor Richard Wyn Jones, Director of Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre, who will discuss the broader context of devolution and governance relating to Brexit.
