This free to attend evening debate will examine the relationship between transparency and Freedom of Information (FOI).  It will discuss whether a proactive approach to transparency is really necessary, in a world of increasing freedom of information.  We’ll look at lessons learned within the public sector – and how those might translate to the private sector.  And we’ll ask whether FOI can enhance transparency; or whether it will eventually restrict the transparency it seeks to support.

We hope this will be a lively debate, so there will be lots of time for questions, and you’ll be able to carry on your discussions over drinks after the debate.

The panel will include:

  • Suzanne Wise – Group General Counsel and Company Secretary, Network Rail (Chair)
  • Sir Alex Allan KCB – Prime Minister’s Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests and former Chairman, Joint Intelligence Committee
  • Maurice Frankel – Director, Campaign for Freedom of Information
  • Dr Ben Worthy – Lecturer in Politics, Birkbeck College, University of London
  • Jane Dudman – Editor, Guardian Public Leaders, The Guardian

Registration from 4.45pm.  The debate will start promptly at 5.00pm and will finish for 6.30pm followed by networking drinks.
